A long time ago in Valtrompia...

What is now a thriving manufacturing industry, market leader in Italy and in several European countries, was born many years ago in a difficult and tragic historical period.

Two years after the outbreak of World War II and after one year from the Italian entry into the war, Francesco Rivadossi, a small business owner in the transport field of Valtrompia in the Italian Pre-Alps region, has been deprived of its own trucks because of their seizure by the army. He then opened a small laboratory for the production of brass’ and alpaca’s cutlery with the fusion technology.

All the large family was involved into the challenge and contributed with enthusiasm, commitment and spirit of sacrifice.

During the first years they were forced to work at night because during the day the electricity was suspended, often lacked even overnight and the Rivadossi brothers remained in the laboratory next to the machines to be able to resume working.

The production of their own cutlery models has been enriched in the early 60s with cookware lines and table accessories. From the co-operation with ceramic and porcelain manufactures, of which the Rivadossi Francesco & Sons company was a supplier, came the idea of ​​creating a small cup with a stainless steel holder who translated an idea of modernity very much alive in the society of the time.

It has been an extraordinary success: the combination with ceramic and porcelain was then developed also in dessert sets with cutlery and dishes, salad sets and even table sets complete with fancy tablecloths signed by Mario Giuseppe Rivadossi.

The great creativity of those years led to explore also the world of cooking with the production of a beautiful series of enamelled steel pots decorated with colours on a white background. The breakthrough, however, came with the switch to the production of stainless steel cookware. The first set was simply called Cylindrical, with black bakelite handles and triple bottom consisting of a stainless steel disk on a copper disk welded to the bottom.

The name of the company, following the evolution of the times, had become INOXRIV of Rivadossi Francesco & Sons, and that name remained also after 1983 when the company became a S.P.A.

Mario Giuseppe Rivadossi validly lead the company for nearly fifty years, supported by the collaboration of his brothers, responsible for the different business departments, following carefully the evolution of the market and anticipating new trends.

A big success was the Katia cookware line, the first one with the bellied shape, then reinterpreted in the prestigious series River Cook which also marked an important technical evolution with the creation of the capsulated bottom containing a thick aluminium disk. And so over the years the continuous innovation of the design, the development of table accessories with special gold decorations and sets of cutlery with coloured handles, have ensured a continuous growth and a solid presence in the markets across Europe and in various other countries in the world.

A new generation joined the company, with the goal of improving the quality, the efficiency and the customer service. Unlike many industries that chose to relocate or to trade products from the Far East, INOXRIV confirms the decision to maintain its production in Italy, strengthening it and enhancing it.

In 1997 the production has been transferred from the historical site of Villa Carcina (BS), where the warehouses for the storage and the packaging and the sales offices remain, to the new modern plants in Agnosine (BS), more than 10,000 square meters rationally distributed to optimize the production layout.
